The major of Musicology (Teacher Education) aims to cultivate high-quality, application-oriented talents who have comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, and aesthetics, master the basic theories, knowledge, and skills of music education, possess modern educational concepts, good cultural literacy and professional ethics, as well as innovative consciousness and practical ability. Graduating students are required to have strong political, ideological, and moral qualities; Having a certain level of proficiency in foreign languages and computer applications; Master the basic skills and principles of nine-year compulsory education teaching, and possess certain teaching organization abilities; Master the basic knowledge, theories, and skills of musicology major; Master the basic methods of music literature retrieval and data inquiry, and have the preliminary ability to engage in teaching research and scientific research; Having a lifelong learning mindset, strong self-learning ability, and a certain ability to solve practical problems. The main courses of the major include vocal music, piano, sight singing and ear training, choir and conducting, music curriculum and teaching theory, middle school music curriculum standards, music teaching and research methods and training, Western music history, Chinese music history, piano improvisation accompaniment, analysis of musical forms and works, musicology research and academic writing, etc.

After graduation, students can engage in teaching, performance, operation, management and other fields such as primary and secondary schools, kindergartens, mass media systems, publishing, broadcasting, film and television, and cultural industries.

This major has a backbone teaching team with rich teaching experience and strong sense of responsibility, and the teaching staff is at a leading level in China. We have advanced equipment such as a small music hall, experimental theater, experimental piano building, audio and visual laboratory, digital piano classroom, MIDI music production laboratory and other music art training center laboratories, with good teaching hardware facilities. In professional teaching, great emphasis is placed on the combination of theory and practice for students. Through classroom teaching and various extracurricular performance practices and observation activities, students are trained to become music and art talents with strong practical and organizational abilities. The college has established Ningbo University Experimental Orchestra, Ningbo University Chorus, and Ningbo University Folk Music Troupe, which greatly enrich students' artistic practice. At the same time, cooperation and teaching practice and internship bases have been established with cultural and educational institutions such as Ningbo Performing Arts Group, Ningbo Symphony Orchestra, Ningbo Mass Art Museum, Ningbo Youth Palace, and Cultural Center to strengthen students' ability to participate in social art practice activities.
