The Conservatory of Music was established in May 2015 and is an important training base for applied and theoretical music talents in Zhejiang Province, with distinctive educational characteristics. The college has a master's program in "Music and Dance" and a master's program in "Art" (music field), with both academic and professional graduate training systems. The first level discipline of "Music and Dance" is a key construction discipline of Ningbo University; The undergraduate major of Musicology (Normal) is a national first-class undergraduate major construction point, an advantageous major in Ningbo City, and a first-class major construction project of Ningbo University. Currently, the college has teaching, research, and practical institutions such as Vocal and Dance Teaching and Research Office, Piano and Instrumental Teaching and Research Office, Theory and Creation Teaching and Research Office, Public Music Teaching and Research Office, Music Research Institute, Music Ningbo Gang Research Center, and Art Practice Center.
The college currently has 58 faculty members, including nearly 500 full-time undergraduate and graduate students. There are 52 professional teachers, including 34 teachers with doctoral degrees. It is a young and promising teaching staff. At present, the college has 5 national key courses and 7 provincial key courses. In 2022, it won 3 second prizes for the first National Excellent Textbook Award, the first prize for Excellent Teaching Achievement in Zhejiang Province, and the second prize for National Excellent Teaching Achievement Award in 2023. The 2023 Soft Science "Musicology" major ranks seventh in the country.(September 2024)
